Bible study for National Day of Prayer

I got an email last week from a woman named Crystal:

Elisa — Do you have a Bible Study for the National Day of Prayer? It doesn’t have to be current, but maybe something you posted last year. I am doing the study this coming Tuesday (5/5/2020) and would like to use it if you have one.

As it turned out, I did not have one! I’m sure the Bible study I recently created on the Lord’s Prayer would work … but then, as I pondered the National Day of Prayer, a piece of a Bible verse came to mind: “if my people will humble themselves…”

I didn’t even know where this verse appeared in the Bible or what it was about (perhaps the Holy Spirit prompted it in my brain?). So I looked it up on on BibleGateway. And here’s what God says in 2 Chronicles 7:

14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.

2 Chronicles 7:14-15

That really grabbed me. There are specific “ifs” that God lays out for his people, and specific promises that result. Especially right now, this resonated with me for our nation.

So, long story short, I went ahead and created a Bible study specifically for anyone who wants to lead a scripture study for the National Day of Prayer.

Untested, so please give feedback

As with all of my resources, I’ve designed this Bible discussion for use with elders who have Alzheimer’s or other dementias … but please keep in mind that I haven’t actually tried it yet myself! (Typically I try out a study on a group of elders before I post it.) So if you use it, please let me know how it went by posting a comment below.
