Spiritual Eldercare featured on Alzheimer’s Speaks Podcast!

I was so honored to participate in a recent conversation with Lori Le Bey on her dynamic and wide-reaching podcast, Alzheimer’s Speaks.

For this episode, Lori focused on 2026 Maude’s Awards winners. I was delighted to appear alongside fellow honoree Gary Glazner of the Alzheimer’s Poetry Project and Maude’s Awards Executive Director Marilyn Raichle.

Watch the Alzheimer’s Speaks conversation on YouTube.

Or listen to the podcast.

I quickly found out that Lori is a force of nature 😊 On her Alzheimer’s Speaks site, she offers myriad free educational resources for people living with dementia, their care partners, family members, and professionals, all aimed to “shift dementia care from crisis to comfort.”

Another key component of Alzheimer’s Speaks is the Dementia Map, a free global resource directory full of companies and individuals committed to improving the lives of those touched by dementia.

In our fun conversation, Lori, Gary, Marilyn, and I got to share stories about what we do and why. I encourage listening or watching to the whole thing, but if you want to skip ahead, my section starts around 39:25.

Peace be with you,

P.S. Early in the interview, Gary mentions a really good New York Times article titled “The Best Thing To Do With a Relative Who Has Alzheimer’s.” I think the title is misleading, but the article is great; it’s a wonderful reflection on a daughter’s revelation while caring for her dad.

Today I listened to Alzheimer’s Speaks and truly enjoyed my hour with you all. My mother, who passed away in 2014, had forgotten all her past including who I was; but she still remembered certain hymns. This surprised me as she was not, to my knowledge, a religious person. So, in her last days I would play hymns for her which seemed to bring much peace to her as she lay quietly in a cot set up in my office at home.
