Dementia-friendly church service: Dignity (Black History Month)

This week’s updated (better captions and sound) worship service theme is dignity — all people’s inherent value as made in the image of God — with a special focus on Black History Month, observed in the U.S. in February.

As always, this service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Watch the 43-minute worship service on dignity here. And here’s the written agenda.

Don’t miss the story about African American quilts (starting at 31:35), especially those from Gee’s Bend (see photo above). To me, these quilts serve as a metaphor for each person’s uniqueness and beauty.

And once again, I’m indebted to Rev. Alydia Smith of the United Church of Canada, who graciously agreed to review my original 2021 service and to contribute her beautiful prayer “The Light of the World” via video (starting at 27:35).

Peace be with you,
