Dementia-friendly church service: Pentecost (Holy Spirit, wind & fire)

This Sunday, May 19, is Pentecost Sunday. This week’s slightly updated nondenominational worship service looks at wind and fire — two physical elements used to describe what happened at the first Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended on the first believers.

And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where [Jesus’ followers] were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:2-4)

As always, this service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Watch the 45-minute worship service for Pentecost here.

And here’s the written agenda. If possible, serve sliced strawberries for a snack 🍓!

Peace be with you,
