I’ve slightly updated my service for the Season of Creation, which runs from Sept. 1 to Oct. 4, the Feast of St. Francis, patron saint of ecology. (You can, of course, use this service anytime during that span.)
My video service and written agenda can be used each year, but I encourage you to check out the Season of Creation materials for 2024. An ecumenical team comes up with a fresh theme and materials each year!
As always, the service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Watch the 45-minute church service for Season of Creation here.
Add to the experience
I encourage you to gather a number of handheld items from nature for elders to interact with during the service: feathers, rocks, seashells, fresh and dried flowers. You could also experiment with “name that sound” recordings or show coffee-table picture books of natural vistas, such as the rainforest, national parks, or desert scenery.
Peace be with you,
