Dementia-friendly church service: Blessing

I’ve made slight tweaks to this week’s nondenominational worship service on blessing.

This service provides a great chance to “count your blessings” with your elders, including those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Give them time, and I think you’ll be delighted with what they share!

Watch the 45-minute worship service on blessing here.

And here’s the written agenda on blessing.

Elsewhere on my website, I offer room blessings for a simple but meaningful ritual to bless a bedroom after someone dies or moves away. Research indicates that this can be a helpful way to process the loss of a resident for both staff and fellow residents.

On my “cheat sheet” page, I also offer various prayers to bless elders and common scriptures to bless elders. Let me know what resources you’ve found helpful as you seek to lift the spirits of these dear elders.

Peace be with you,

P.S. I’m away from my desk until Oct 10 — I’ll respond to any notes after that time. I’ve pre-loaded worship services and written agendas, so you’ll still get weekly alerts if you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel or this website.
