Dementia-friendly church service: Dignity (Black History Month)

I recorded a brand-new video on dignity for this week’s nondenominational worship service, in recognition of Black History Month (February).

In this new service, I use the Bible stories of the Samaritan woman at the well and Zacchaeus the tax collector to highlight the way Jesus treated all people with dignity — especially those whom society typically overlooked or ignored.

As always, this service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. (And what a good opportunity to celebrate their dignity, too!)

Watch the new 44-minute church service on dignity here.

And here’s the new written agenda on dignity.

I’ve kept a couple of elements from my previous version of this service; namely:

  • Rev. Alydia Smith’s beautiful video prayer “The Light of the World,” starting at 32:32.
  • A brief history of African American quilting, adapted from an essay by Ellison Langford.

Peace be with you,
