Dementia-friendly church service: beauty

I always enjoy making these worship service videos, but this week’s church video was particularly fun to put together. It’s on the theme of beauty, so I get to reflect on and show off some of my favorite types of beauty. As usual the worship service is suitable for seniors with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Watch the 48-minute church service on beauty here.

It also includes the poem “Pied Beauty” (with visuals), by Gerard Manley Hopkins:

Glory be to God for dappled things –
   For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
      For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;
   Landscape plotted and pieced – fold, fallow, and plough;
      And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;
   Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
      With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
                                Praise him.
