Dementia-friendly church service: Dignity (Black History Month)

This week’s nondenominational church service video, suitable for seniors with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, focuses on dignity — particularly humans’ status as “imago Dei,” in the image of God.

This is a new service for me this year and one I’m pleased to have created, particularly in recognition of Black History Month (February in North America). I hope you and all the elders in your care, especially those with African or Black heritage — and caregivers as well — feel seen and honored with this service.

I’m so grateful to Rev. Alydia Smith of the United Church of Canada, who graciously offered to review my service and to contribute her beautiful prayer “The Light of the World” via video. (Watch and listen at 32:43.)
