Dementia-friendly church service: Charity (Lent, week 3)

For the third week of Lent, the nondenominational worship service theme is charity. As always, this video church service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

In the New Testament, charity is the same word as love — the Greek word agape. It connotes an unconditional kindness, a love that’s not just a feeling but that’s active and committed.

For older adults, charity typically brings to mind giving to others, usually in the form of money for some good cause. So for this service, I talk about charity as giving — which is, of course, an act of love. What has God given us that we can share generously with others? (Hint: It’s not limited to money!)
