Bible study for elders with dementia: Jesus calms the storm (Mark 4)

The latest updated Bible study is from the gospel of Mark, chapter 4. It’s the story of Jesus calming a storm and how his followers react.

This Bible study guide for seniors with dementia, like all the other Bible study guides on this site, will help you lead a discussion that’s engaging and interactive. Here are a few responses from last week, when my group and I went through this passage:

Elisa: Jesus has just finished teaching a huge crowd. What does Jesus say when this long day is done?

Resident, paraphrasing Jesus: “Let’s get out of here!”

Elisa: And what happens when they’re in the boat, in the middle of a storm? Where is Jesus?

Resident, pantomiming sleep: “Z-z-z-z-z…”

Later:

E: What does it feel like when there’s a storm in your heart or in your life?

Residents: “Scared.” “You have no control.”

E: Where is Jesus when you’re in a storm?

Resident: “Right by our side.”

Peace be with you,
