Dementia-friendly church service: Discovery (2021)

This week’s updated, nondenominational worship service video, suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, touches on Discovery. That’s because:

  1. This week is the remembrance of Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples Day — the former a common holiday for current elders (I remember having the day off school!) and the latter a more recent acknowledgment of how colonial “discovery” affected Native peoples.
  2. As people of faith, we are always discovering new things that God is doing and how we can best follow God’s Spirit into new areas of growth.

As you watch with elders in your care, be sure to pause the video for times of discussion. It’s fun to hear what people have discovered in their lives, and what they are still discovering today.

Watch the 46-minute worship service on discovery here.

Peace be with you,
