Dementia-friendly church service: Community

As I go through my videos and update them, I’m working to fix the sound issues and shorten the videos to no more than 45 minutes.

That’s what I’ve done with this week’s nondenominational worship service video on community. I still like the message a lot: We are all, including elders with dementia, a necessary and purposeful part of God’s family. Just like in an orchestra, we all have a part to play — and the song is diminished when one part is missing.

As always, this service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Watch the 45-minute church service on community here.

Peace be with you,

P.S. And here’s the written agenda for the church service on Community.

Dear Elisa, Thank you for your creativity in producing the “Season of Creation” worship service. I used it on Tuesday at one site with 12 elderly folk attending. It was warmly received. I will be using it today at another site with approximately a dozen residents likely to be attending. Just a note with regards to Creation worship. There were a couple of hymns that I wasn’t familiar with but several of the residents were singing along in a heartily fashion. I look forward to viewing the recently released “Community” service. When you stated that community can be viewed like an orchestra it reminded me of one of Rob Bell’s devotion on DVD made over a dozen years ago where he uses the metaphor of music to represent community. May you enjoy your autumn with all the beautiful colours of deciduous trees. We are entering spring here in the Southern Hemisphere. May God’s grace, peace and abundance be yours. Dianne PS A thought has just entered my head. At the end of October (maybe Oct 23rd?) many Protestant churches around the world have the celebration of Reformation Sunday in their church year. Would you consider producing a worship service with the theme of the Reformation?
