In recognition of Veterans Day in the U.S. and Canada, this week’s updated nondenominational worship service focuses on honor.
Watch the 44-minute church service on honor here.
This year I’ve added something new to the written agenda for the Honor church service: a short list of organizations that support veterans. My current picks:
- Canine Companions, which trains and provides service dogs for vets (and others) at no cost.
- Wounded Warriors Family Support, which “provides, free of charge, family-friendly retreats where wounded veterans, spouses, and children can reconnect with each other in a low-stress setting.”
- Homes for Our Troops, which “builds mortgage-free and specially adapted houses for multiple amputees and veterans with traumatic brain injuries.”
I’m sure there are many other excellent groups that care for vets, so please add your own ideas and links in the comments below!
If you’re an activity professional, you might consider exploring one or more of these orgs with your elders and perhaps write or draw notes of appreciation to veterans.
Peace be with you,
