I’ve updated this week’s nondenominational worship service on hope to fix sound issues (again). As always, this service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

I want you to know how incredibly humbled and honored I am by all of you who read these blogs and who use and pass along Spiritual Eldercare resources. I continue to get emails nearly every day from people around the world, which astonishes me.

I’m especially gratified to hear from people who are heeding God’s call to minister to elders with dementia. Here’s a representative letter I received this week:

My mother is in memory care in a facility … I have wondered before if the residents miss The Word, as I have observed they often respond positively to gospel music. I have prayed and considered and decided to offer to teach a bible study once a week for the residents with dementia. I have never done such a thing before, and know I am unqualified, but I know with the support of the Holy Spirit, who led me to your resources, I feel confident I can do it. I am going to use your “Laborers in the Vineyard” study guide to start. I have other plans for music and refreshments in addition to the Bible study plan.

As I told this dear sister, her love and willingness to step out in faith are the only qualifications she needs! (Plus I love her idea to include refreshments 😇)

I am so grateful and am praying for all of you doing this work, whether that’s making time to watch the videos, experimenting with a Bible study, hosting a hymn sing-along, or any other way you choose to bring God’s hope and comfort to these dear elders. You are my heroes.
