Dementia-friendly church service: The Golden Rule

I’ve made a brand-new recording of this week’s nondenominational worship service on the Golden Rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I love exploring this topic with elders, who typically have lifetime lessons of sharing with others and treating others the way they would want to be treated.

As always, the service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Watch the 45-minute church service on the Golden Rule here.

And here’s the written agenda.

Peace be with you,

Morning Chaplain Elisa, Your church services are so well put together n using your videos has given me the answer I’ve needed to get much needed respite. Thank you.

However, I wonder about including political figures as we’ve seen from time to time. It created quite a stir from one individual this past week n could have easily spread throughout our “congregation” but i was able to distract n also get back to the point of the Golden Rule. In any case, I thought you’d want to know.

We all appreciate you Chaplain Elisa n still would love it if you could come n make a Personal appearance some time. We arenot that far, here in Denver, and the residents are asking to meet you.

Thanks again for your inspiring Jesus Bible based church services, full of God’s Word, worship songs, your messages including pictures n discussion questions, n your cute funny stories. God be Praised! It’s a JOY to end the service with everyone smiling.

    Blessings to you! Mary

Hi Mary! Thanks for this interesting comment, and yes, I’m always glad to hear how different things affect viewers. I’ve wondered about whether Obama would be a difficulty for some residents 🙂 I’m curious if you know the cause of the person’s reaction: was it political or racial or something else? I’m certainly not trying to alienate anyone, but I’m dedicated to including truthful voices from different perspectives, particularly people of color, so that more viewers have a point of connection. (Now that I’m looking at the caption, however, I can see I could delete the words “former president” and just include his name.)

I deeply appreciate the feedback, and even more, your dedication to these dear elders! I would love to visit sometime. I’ve got several family commitments coming up, so would you please check back with me early November for me to figure out a time?

    Blessings,

    Elisa
