Dementia-friendly church service: Lent 3, Charity

For Lent week 3, the slightly updated nondenominational worship service focuses on charity, the act of giving out of love. What are God’s promises to us if we want to be generous with others?

As always, the service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Watch the 45-minute church service on charity for Lent week 3 here.

And here’s the written church service agenda on charity.

Palm Sunday falls on April 13 this year — just three weeks away! Using palm fronds during the service makes a nice tactile addition, so you might want to order them right away.  Here’s one source to buy palm fronds. And after the service, use the palm leaves to make palm crosses — a surprisingly reminiscent activity for many elders (especially Catholics).

Peace be with you,

Hi Elisa, I want to tell you again, thanks so much for passing on the information about Doug Wiley and the Super Large Print Bibles. These Bibles are beautiful! I ordered 8, and passed them out very quickly to a Bible study group I do at an assisted living. It was so thrilling to see the eyes get wide once these people saw how large the print was! Had requests for more from others who saw their friend’s Bible. Ordered 24 more (he sends them in boxes of 8). Thought it would take a while to find homes for that many. It took me 3 days, and I have a waiting list as I called him again and ordered 2 more boxes — 16 more Bibles.  It is so much fun to give away the Word of God to people who are so happy to get it in a size print they can read!Joanne Fortson, Lexington KY

Oh my goodness, that’s music to my ears. And I’m sure Doug is thrilled as well 🙂 There’s nothing like the Word of God to bring comfort, hope, and joy. Thanks for this great report, Joanne! You’re a rock star!
