Dementia-friendly church service: Creativity

This week’s updated nondenominational worship service looks at creativity, part of our DNA as image-bearers of God, our Creator.

You may want to follow this service with a dementia-friendly artistic activity, such as watercolors or clay work. My office wall is decorated with beautiful paintings done by past memory-care residents; they inspire me every day! (See photo below 😇)

As always, the service is suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Watch the 44-minute worship service on creativity here.

And here’s the written agenda for the church service on creativity.

Peace be with you,

My office wall, thanks to a Memories in the Making program at Balfour Cherrywood (where I serve as chaplain) several years ago. The art and artists are (clockwise from left):
  • Sailboats: Barge
  • Peaceful lake: Susan
  • Rowboat: Jack
  • Sunflower: Gerri
  • Sea turtle: Dottie
  • Chickens: Marilyn
  • Horse: Dean
  • Canary in spring: Susan

    Hello Elisa,

I just wanted to let you know that I often incorporate your ideas into the simple Bible studies. I do with memory care residence in Monument, Colorado. Thanks for keeping me on your email list.

Also, I have ordered from Doug Wiley my second box of eight large print Bibles. He says he’ll send that second box to me today.

He is 83 years old and doesn’t have a computer and so he asked me to let you know that you can continue publicizing these large print Bibles along with his phone number in case others need them.

I told Doug I would send a quick message to you.

    I’m grateful to you both!
