Several readers asked me for sheet music that corresponds to the lower-key hymn recordings. So here you go!
Ordinary Time Hymns: sheet music
Keep in mind, I downloaded these public domain songs from various internet sources, so they may have slight errors. (I know that my wonderful recording pianist made numerous notations on the music during our rehearsals.)
In addition, I did not delete all of the lyrics from the original files because that would have taken an immense amount of time (I hope to get to that task eventually). And because the songs were transposed to a lower key, the first line of lyrics may get lost in the notes.
Also note that the Ordinary Time sheet music PDF doesn’t include a few songs that are still under copyright or not online. Namely, I do not have sheet music for:
- Great is Thy Faithfulness
- How Great Thou Art
- I Am on the Battlefield
- I’ll Fly Away
- Oh, Freedom
- The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power
I hope these prove helpful to anyone who’d like to lead a live sing-along on the piano, in a lower key, which is more suitable for older adults.

What a wonderful thing you are doing! I do a lot of singing with the elderly, and this is fantastic. I just did a quick scroll through all of the pdf sheet music – I notice there are a lot of hymns lacking lyrics, and there are no chords listed, which would help. I have some of these that I have redone myself, and I am happy to send them to you, and work on updating these ones you have.

Thank you so much for this piano sheet music! Is there a collection as well for Christmas hymns?

Shari, good question! I don’t think I ever made the sheet music document for the Christmas hymns.
I’ll try to get that done but it’s not likely to happen before Christmas … sorry!Changed my mind! I was able to track down the PDFs and combine them into a document, which I’ve just uploaded to this page. Merry Christmas!LikeLike
