Online now: Good Friday service, Easter service, and 86 sing-along hymns for isolated elders

After a burst of stay-at-home activity thanks to covid-19, I’m happy to report that all 86 sing-along hymns for elders with dementia are now on YouTube, complete with lyrics, and all for free.

(A request: Please subscribe to the Spiritual Eldercare channel on YouTube, which will make it easier for others to find these resources. Thank you!)

In addition, I just finished filming and editing two special video worship services for Holy Week, suitable for seniors with Alzheimer’s and other dementias:

Good Friday (for April 10). This 45-minute video focuses on the somber story of Jesus’ betrayal, suffering, crucifixion, and death — a traditional and familiar remembrance to many elders. Unlike all my other services, this one doesn’t include a homily. Rather, I simply read the gospel story of Jesus’ final hours and intersperse many beautiful Good Friday hymns, such as “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded” and “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord.”

Easter Sunday (April 12). For Christians around the world, Easter is the most special and sacred holiday of the entire year — so I wanted to create a service for any elder (or anyone else, really) who may not be able to join with others at their regular place of worship. It includes an interactive homily and lots of wonderful, triumphant hymns, including “Christ the Lord is Risen Today” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” — plus a sing-along of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus at the end!

If you use any of these resources during Holy Week, I would love to hear your thoughts — I’m still learning how to make these videos the best they can be for those who want and need them.

Bless you during this week of remembering God’s grace and victory.
