According to the traditional church calendar, this coming Sunday, May 31, is Pentecost Sunday. This day remembers the stunning story of Acts 2, when the promised Holy Spirit descended on Jesus’ first followers “like tongues of fire.”
So, this week’s 49-minute video church service focuses on God’s Spirit, especially the biblical descriptions of the Spirit as like wind and fire.
As always, this service is designed for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, although it’s suitable for anyone. I hope it serves you and your loved ones during the ongoing shutdowns, social isolation, and quarantines related to covid-19.
The Pentecost church service on YouTube includes:
- Readings from Acts 2, including Peter’s address to skeptics who witnessed the early believers “speaking in tongues.”
- Lots of hymns.
- An interactive homily on how God’s Spirit is like wind and fire.
- A poem by Robert Louis Stevenson.
- Special bonus: Just for fun, I’ve include two photos of my darling new grandson!
As a side note: I think my technology difficulties have been solved, for the moment … thanks to all of you who sent suggestions (and prayers 🙂 ).
Please let me know how you all are holding up.
