Nondenominational worship service: Transfiguration Sunday

According to the traditional church calendar, this Sunday, August 9, is Transfiguration Sunday, so that’s the theme of this week’s nondenominational YouTube church service. It’s designed for elders, particularly those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, who are shut in and unable to attend their regular church due to continued covid-19 restrictions.

Transfiguration Sunday honors the gospel story of Jesus being transfigured — shining like the sun — in front of Peter, James, and John (Matthew 17, Mark 9). For this video service, I focus on the idea of transformation. How does the presence and voice of God transform us? How does this help us through times of uncertainty and change?

I hope you find this 48-minute worship service video a blessing; as always, feedback is welcome in the comments below.
