Dementia-friendly worship service: Creativity

This week’s nondenominational church service video, suitable for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, is a new one! For this 48-minute worship service, I decided to focus on the theme of creativity.

In my experience, people with dementia remain incredibly creative — a truly god-like quality, bestowed by our good Creator. I love the Alzheimer’s Association’s Memories in the Making program, which gives people with dementia opportunities to work with watercolors, colored pencils, and more. (I have several beautiful copies of artwork made by adults with dementia; they’ll soon be a gallery wall in my office.)

For elders with dementia, art provides a means of expression, comfort, and joy. What a wonderful gift!

I hope you and any elders in your care enjoy the service.
