Earlier this week, a reader asked if I had a suggested lineup of dementia-friendly worship service themes for 2023. As a matter of fact, I do!
Here’s a printable (PDF) list of suggested Sunday services for 2023. It follows the liturgical calendar for major seasons like Lent and Advent. I also incorporate timely themes for U.S. or international holidays, which are memorable touchstones for people living with dementia.
The list also includes a few special dates such as Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, and a couple of weekends where you have two choices, depending on your audience.
All of these services are already available on my YouTube channel. But I’ll be updating some of them during the year, so keep an eye out for the latest versions.
And these are just suggestions! Feel free to choose services based on your elders’ needs on any particular day.
If time permits, I’ll also create some new services — so please post theme ideas in the comments below.
To find a particular video church service:
- Go to YouTube.com/spiritualeldercare.
- Click on the little magnifying glass icon.
- Type in the name of the service you want, such as “Creativity” or “Lent 1.” (Check the YouTube screenshot below to see what I mean.)

Peace be with you, and Happy New Year!
