In the United States, the last Monday of May is set aside as Memorial Day, to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. This year, U.S. Memorial Day is on May 31. With that in mind, this week’s nondenominational worship service focuses on the idea of sacrifice.
Watch the 48-minute worship service on sacrifice here.
Although this particular service is geared toward a U.S. audience, other countries recognize this day with different names and on different dates, such as:
- Australia and New Zealand: Anzac Day, April 25
- Canada and the U.K.: Remembrance Day, second Sunday in November
- South Korea: June 6
- Turkey: Martyrs’ Day, March 18
- Nigeria: Armed Forces Remembrance Day, January 15
In many countries, red poppies are the symbol of Remembrance Day — hence the beautiful photo above.
If helpful, in lieu of this video you can access the written service here and modify it for your particular nation and elders.
Peace be with you,
